As you add or subtract programs, shortening or lengthen programs, or combine programs to meet the everchanging legislative environment – one thing stays constant. You will need the approval of the Florida Commission for Independent Education (“CIE”).

Because of the new “100% Rule”, are you combining a 500-hour massage program with a 220-hour skin care program to offer a face/body dual licensed program? If so, you will need CIE to “sign off”.

Because of the new “90/10 Rule”, are you adding a new cash pay program which is unrelated to any of your existing Title IV programs to “boost” your 10%? If so, you will need CIE to “sign-off”.

Are you adding a new program to help compensate for VA revenue you lost trying to keep your “90%” in balance? If so, you will need CIE to “sign off.

Meeting with Tiffany Hurst the ED of the Florida Commission for Independent Education

No worries – FACTS has your BACK. Mez Varol, President of FACTS and Director Michael Halmon, recently met with Tiffany Hurst, the Executive Director of CIE in Tallahassee to discuss the challenges being faced by cosmetology and wellness private school owners in Florida AND their need for CIE to be responsive in a timely manner. That meeting started the process of “building a bridge” between the newly reorganized CIE and FACTS.

Help FACTS, help you. FACTS needs your voice and support.
